Guilford Art Center is pleased to announce its second annual FREE Open Arts Day on Sunday, January 5, 1-3pm. All community members are invited to attend.
For Open Arts Day, the Art Center’s studios and classrooms will be open with instructor artists demonstrating their crafts and offering hands-on art projects. Visitors are invited to try out an art form (or two! or three!) they want to learn more about, including, Pottery, Blacksmithing, Sewing, Drawing, Beading, Kids’ classes and more.
Open Arts Day is being held this year in honor of Rosalie Rouillard, GAC pottery apprentice, metalsmithing student, and volunteer, who passed away after a brief illness in August, 2013. Rosalie was vibrant, gregarious and fun, and always the first to volunteer to instruct at community events and free workshops. The “come one, come all” spirit of this event is well-matched to her enthusiastic embrace of fun activities and fellow artists.
Open Arts Day coincides with the final day of Guilford Art Center’s Artistry: American Craft for the Holidays, open 12-5pm. All merchandise is on sale!
No reservations or registration are necessary, and all activities are free of charge. Open Arts Day is made possible by donations in Rosalie Rouillard’s memory, as well as, in part, by a bequest from the estate of Cynthia Barrington.
