Beginning on Jan. 12, the Essex Winter Series will present five concerts of works spanning numerous time periods and styles. Dedicated to co-founder Fenton Brown, who died in September, the 2014 program will showcase music from the baroque to the contemporary performed by ascendant and well-established artists.
Pianist and series co-founder Mihae Lee, who appears regularly as part of the Chestnut Hill Concerts series, and her Boston Chamber Music Society colleague, pianist Randall Hodgkinson, will kick off the Essex Winter Series in a program of piano four-hands arrangements of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, Debussy’s La Mer, and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.
Concerts in Deep River on Feb. 9, March 2, March 30, and April 13 will feature performances by classical guitarist Jason Vieaux, jazz pianist Jeff Barnhart in a program of music by Fats Waller, New York Philharmonic hornist Leelanee Sterrett, and the New Haven Symphony Orchestra.
