In an effort to better understand what kinds of benefits current and prospective Arts Council members are looking for, the organization would like to hear from local artists — particularly writers and musicians.
Perhaps the Arts Council can assist writers in their search for literary agents and book publishers. And maybe there are ways in which the organization can connect musicians with booking agents and record-label principals.
The thought here is that the Arts Council could, for example, reach out to publishing- and music-industry professionals for help in these areas — that part of what we can and perhaps should do is introduce current and prospective members to the folks with whom they most want to engage.
To that end, we’d like to hear from local writers and musicians — and also from artists working in other disciplines — about what an appealing membership-benefit structure might look like. We’ll welcome your ideas and suggestions here, at theartspaper.com.
